Ursula Blickle Foundation: Miki Kratsman

“All ABOUT US” at the Ursula Blickle Foundation is Miki Kratsman’s first solo exhibition in Europe. Miki Kratsman, born 1959 in Argentina, immigrated to Israel in 1971 where he has been living in Tel Aviv since. His photographs are regularly published in the Israeli daily newspaper “Haaretz” in the rubric “The Twilight Zone.” Since 2006, Kratsman has been directing the photography course at the renowned Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.

ICA London: Nathaniel Mellors

A two-headed talking animatronic sculpture and video installations showing three episodes of Nathaniel Mellors’ absurdist sitcom Ourhouse are included in the artist’s first major solo exhibition in a UK public institution at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) from 9 March to 15 May 2011. A programme of music events, film screenings and talks devised by Mellors complements the exhibition.

MUSAC, Museo De Arte Contemporáneo De Castilla y León: Six new exhibitions

MUSAC presents The Mission and the Missioners, the first solo exhibition in Spain of African artist Georges Adéagbo. This show displays the intercultural and inter-textual “assemblages” of this key figure in contemporary art from Africa and the international art scene. MUSAC (León, Spain), the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain), and La Casa Encendida (Madrid, Spain) will simultaneously host the exhibition Desaparecidos by Gervasio Sánchez, an extensive documentary photography project centred on the forced disappearances that took place in eleven countries throughout Latin America, Asia and Europe.

17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil: Olafur Eliasson

The 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, later this year will feature Olafur Eliasson’s first solo exhibition in Latin America. The show comprises a series of installations by the Danish-Icelandic artist created or adapted especially for three venues with a strong architectural identity: SESC Pompeia, a factory recreated by Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi; Pinacoteca do Estado, a historic building renovated by Pritzker Prize winner Paulo Mendes da Rocha; and the recently opened SESC Belenzinho.
