The exhibition of the works by Purvitis Prize candidates will be on view at the Arsenals (Old Town, Torņa Street 1) Exhibition Hall of the Latvian National Art Museum until 10 April 2011. The exhibition includes striking works in a variety of techniques: painting, photography, installation, and video art created in 2009 and 2010 by eight artists.

The 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, later this year will feature Olafur Eliasson’s first solo exhibition in Latin America. The show comprises a series of installations by the Danish-Icelandic artist created or adapted especially for three venues with a strong architectural identity: SESC Pompeia, a factory recreated by Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi; Pinacoteca do Estado, a historic building renovated by Pritzker Prize winner Paulo Mendes da Rocha; and the recently opened SESC Belenzinho.

The jury of the 2011 Joan Miró Prize has granted the award to the Palestinian-British artist residing in London and Berlin, Mona Hatoum, for her great skill in connecting personal experience with universal values. Hatoum’s sculptures, installations, performances and videos set her among the most outstanding artists on the international art scene.
