The Phillips Collection: Announces the appointment of Klaus Ottmann as the museum’s first Curator at Large

Dorothy Kosinski, director of The Phillips Collection, announces the appointment of Klaus Ottmann as the museum’s first Curator at Large, a newly created position supported by a major grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. He will direct the activities of The Phillips Collection Center for the Study of Modern Art, established in 2007 to engage varied audiences in conversations about modern and contemporary art. Ottmann begins work at the Phillips on Oct. 1.

Dia:Beacon: Fall 2010 Exhibitions and Programs

This presentation of works by Franz Erhard Walther will feature a selection of Handlungsstücke (Action Pieces) from the early 1960s, including the complete presentation of 1. Werksatz (First Work Set), 1963–69. Acquired by Dia in 1978, this work comprises fifty-eight fabric elements, or “instruments,” meant to be activated by visitors to the museum, drawing attention to the body as material form.
