CONTRACT FACULTY POSITION/ELECTRONIC MEDIA & DIGITAL ART

BALL STATE UNIVERSITY
MUNCIE, INDIANA

Contract faculty position available August 20, 2010. Responsibilities: teach from a menu of courses in the department’s electronic media/digital arts curriculum at both the basic and advanced levels with an initial emphasis on basic computer art and Web page design; provide managerial and technical support for the department’s instructional Mac computer lab as necessary based on departmental need and/or specific teaching assignment.

Minimum qualifications: master’s degree required by time of appointment; significant record of successful undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience at a college or university; record of exhibitions or artistic accomplishments utilizing digital media; expertise in time-based and 2D computer art applications; proficiency in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop and AfterEffects software.

Preferred qualifications: master of fine arts degree by time of appointment; proficiency in Flash software; proficiency in Web design, preferably with Dreamweaver software; experience in 3D animation and modeling, preferably using Maya software; experience with multidisciplinary approaches to time-based media production with an emphasis on interactivity; involvement in contemporary experimental approaches to digital media as part of fine arts practice.
