The exhibition “IMAGE LEAKS – On the Image Politics of Resources” by Dierk Schmidt combines recent work and thematically related older pieces to create a focal image of contemporary economic-political relationships. A core question explored in Schmidt’s practice is how artistic images can address everyday political events and their historical legacy.

From February 23 to May 15, 2011, the Schirn presents a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to the German painter Eugen Schönebeck, which will feature almost all of his surviving paintings and his most important drawings. After devoting himself to Tachist drawing in his beginnings, Schönebeck turned to figurative drawing and painting and was one of the first German artists to thematize the traumatic experiences of World War II.
