Blaffer Art Museum at University of Houston and Flo Art Fund are pleased to present At the Back of the North Wind, an exhibition of new works by Anton Ginzburg, which will be open to the public from June 3 to November 27, 2011 during the 54th Venice Biennale at the Palazzo Bollani. Curated by Matthew J.W. Drutt, the exhibition has been chosen as an official participant of La Biennale di Venezia’s Collateral Program.

One of the two films in Rineke Dijkstra’s exhibition I See A Woman Crying shows a group of children from a primary school who interpret Picasso’s painting Weeping Woman from 1937. Together, the children devise stories about the woman in the image—how she feels, where she has been and where she is going. We never get to see the painting, but the children’s imagination triggers our own.

For the first time in Latin America, Fundación Proa presents in Argentina and Brazil Louise Bouegeois: The Return of the Repressed, a major exhibition of the artist’s work curated by Philip Larratt-Smith and organized by the Instituto Tomie Ohtake of Sao Paulo, the Louise Bourgeois Studio in New York and Proa, with the support of Tenaris.

The Ludwig Forum Aachen will celebrate its 20th birthday with the exhibition opening of Hyper Real – Art and America around 1970. The exhibition, commissioned by Dr. Brigitte Franzen and Anna Sophia Schultz, features some 250 works by 100 international artists, such as Chuck Close, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Duane Hanson, Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter, Martha Rosler, Ed Ruscha, Stephen Shore, Jeff Wall, Garry Winogrand and Andy Warhol.
