Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg: Art and Fashion. Between Skin and Clothing

The exhibition explores the relation between art and fashion. Since the sixties art and fashion share the same avant-garde feeling. From then on fashion no longer expresses power, money and social class. Instead it starts to express art and culture. Fashion and popular visual cultures—like pop art—became from the sixties on the new visual aesthetics of society. Fashion and Art became in the same way conceptual.

Kunsthall Oslo: The Human Pattern

Kunsthall Oslo is very pleased to present the extraordinary work of the Swedish/Norwegian artist Hannah Ryggen (1894–1970). The Human Pattern, centred around eight weavings made during a fifteen-year period spanning WWII, is the first major exhibition of Ryggen’s work in Oslo since 1986. Around this retrospective we have placed a constellation of works by artists who share aspects of Ryggen’s concerns.

Kunsthaus Graz: Hollerer/Marte’s Do we need to have an accident?

The exhibition Hollerer/Marte brings together Austrian filmmaker and performance artist Sabine Marte (*1967)—winner of last year’s Diagonale prize for innovative filmmaking—and internationally acclaimed Austrian sculptor Clemens Hollerer (*1975). They share a conceptual approach to deconstructing existing situations and an interest in the conditions and effects of a medium.

British Art Show 7: In the Days of the Comet

The British Art Show is widely recognised as the most ambitious and influential exhibition of contemporary British art. Following British Art Show 7′s critically acclaimed debut in Nottingham (where it attracted 114,000 visitors) the exhibition arrives at the Hayward Gallery, the first time it has been presented in London for 21 years. Organised by Hayward Touring exhibitions since 1979, the British Art Show takes place every five years and tours to four different cities across the UK. After the Hayward Gallery it travels to venues in Glasgow and Plymouth.
